So today at the beach,

I was waiting in line for my ice-cream at Mövenpick when I noticed that there were was a guy in front of me hugging another guy that was casually texting from the back...
And. I. Flipped.

I don't know whether if it was the good taste of fashion or just the damn cuteness but my heart just fluttered like a butterfly with a cardiac arrest- if that is even a valid simile.

The fashion. Oh gosh where do I start. Chinos with a white shirt and black cardigan. That literally screams minimalism and Korean beauty right there.

I think that my adolescent mind is chasing me down and tackling me to the ground profusely at the moment, because damn that guy looked hot.

A view on science and technology in society today.

ethertune:

A girl (By toshi [panda de rangefinder])

We now live in a world where Science and Technology is the fuel that drives us forward. Our desire for efficiency and accuracy allows us to live a life of luxury and excess, yet it is unjust to see how others over the fence are denied the opportunity to the same rights. In today’s society, our curiosity for the mysteries of science and joys of invention and innovation has evolved into an obsession. Thus, despite being able to communicate internationally at a breakneck speed, we propel ourselves into the bright future ahead, only to forget about the cries of the deprived.

With this in mind, I have chosen to dedicate my career to the field of science, in hopes of changing the way we think- that in the name of discovery we think not of the profits we gain and power we hold, but of the people whose lives we are able to change for the better. As a child I would play the ‘Why game’ where everyone and everything would become a question. ‘Why is the sky blue?’ or ‘why is the grass green?’ it was not long before I found out that there were people in our society whose jobs are to prove such questions with reasoning. Through science, I have been given the joy of understanding my surroundings to a deeper level. Thus, it would be a great privilege if I was able to inspire others to join with this inquisitive culture and solve problems that were once deemed a mystery to many people. What seemed like a million open ended questions are now being dispatched with a logical response.

With reasoning, I now know that the sky is blue due to the different wavelengths of light when it is scattered and the grass is green because of chlorophyll in plant cells. Yet despite finding satisfaction in discovering answers, each fulfilled question is simply replaced by another thought. Now, with the awareness of current social conflicts, I begin to wonder… If we really are a society that prides itself on moving forward to a bigger, brighter and better future, then ‘why are we still struggling with issues such as poverty and abuse?’With science and technology paving the way for stem cell research and providing answers to extraterrestrial mysteries, sadly the biggest mystery lies in our inability to set the well being of our people as a higher priority.

Why do we watch what we watch?

TV shows. Movies. Dramas. Cartoons.

Most of us would rather park our bums on a couch and watch a screen for hours on end, than to fulfill our daily tasks- But the question begs... 'Why?'
Of course, with the media being a well known source of entertainment, it is natural that we, as a piece of the puzzle we call 'society' , would participate in our celebration for enlightenment by catching up on the celebrity gossip or perhaps acquire new found knowledge by watching the sights of the Himalayas.

Yet one particular experience I've had as a fellow couch potato opened my eyes up to a realization.
A couple of weeks ago, my sister had introduced me to a world of Korean drama. It took a while before I reluctantly agreed to throw myself into a fictional world of romance, however through this event I have learned quite a number of things.

Little did I know, as seconds turned into hours, I began to love watching others fall in love. Was it because I felt happy for them? Or was it due to the hilarious miscommunications of tension relievers and delightful comedians? Either way, I found happiness in vicarious living.

It was then that I found out that I watched Korean dramas to escape my own life, to find happiness in another's success.

Am I a despicable person for ruining what should be an innocent romance, or is it, by right, a legitimate excuse for one to drown away their sorrows?

Like drowning one's self in alcohol to forget a broken heart, I continue to immerse myself in the fictional world where my loneliness fades.

Really?

For the love of God, please grow a back bone.
I am not stupid, however neither am I happy about being trampled on like a door mat.

I said what I meant and I meant what I said. I was not wrong, but neither are you. Truth be told, Monday was also my due date, so don't go and be all woe-is-me on me. Otherwise I will honestly metaphorically slap you senseless.

Take off

Yes, I've got the song 'Take off' by 2PM stuck in my head and yes, I am preparing for a flight to Malaysia. Its been 3 good years since I've gone back; all the catching up to do and food to eat!

However my purpose for returning back is not all sunshine and rainbows. In a few days I will be with my family to attend to a personal event which isn't something people would usually look forward to, if you would like.

Although I am not a frequent nor eager traveler when it comes to planes, I have my psp charged to maximum with new otome games and Dissidia just screaming out for some more fighting and saving the world. Such will be the frame of a good 10 hours utilized to the best of a gamer's ability. Furthermore my friend had recommended me to play Bejeweled on during the flight, I immediately agreed to that. Reason? Well the last time I went back to Malaysia, lets just say that a good 3 hours was spent with my dried prune-like eyes glued to the TV screen trying to beat a personal high score. Mark my words, you will be surprised at how addicting Bejeweled is.

So other than time spent like a gamer in heaven, I do intend to watch a couple of movies and shows. Disappointed that the movie meetup with my friends today was postponed, I hope that the airplane shows Contagion! Slim chance though...

Anyways, I better get going. Mum trying to stuff family gifts into my poor luggage. ; A ;

Sorry

It feels like you have been avoiding me recently. Was I annoying you to that extent?

My apologies.
